Year 7 son being picked on - school says they're "monitoring"

My son started Year 7 in September. Since half term a group of boys have been taking his bag, making comments about his height (he's small) and posting stuff about him in a group chat he's not in but has seen screenshots of.

I've emailed his form tutor twice. The reply was that they're "monitoring the situation". He's started having stomach aches on Sunday nights. I'm furious and don't know how to escalate without making things worse for him.

Teacher here. Ask for a meeting with the Head of Year, not just the tutor. Bring dates, times and any screenshots. Ask specifically: what's the plan, who is responsible, and when will you review it. "Monitoring" isn't a plan.

Ask for a copy of the school's anti-bullying policy and quote it back at them. They have to follow their own policy. If they don't, it goes to the governors.

Sorry he's going through this. Year 7 can be brutal. Is there a club at lunchtime he could join? My daughter found that having a place to go at lunch and break made a huge difference while the school sorted it out.

The online stuff - screenshot everything, dates on. If it involves threats or images it might be a police matter, but at the very least it's evidence for the school.

Met the Head of Year this morning. She was much better than the tutor emails - the boys have been spoken to, parents are being called in, and he has a "safe space" in the library at lunch. Feeling a bit more hopeful. Thank you all.
