Fireworks every night until the fifth - the baby AND the dog are terrified

It's 1 November and the fireworks have been going off around us in Tottenham for a week already. Bangs at 9pm, 10pm, 11pm.

My 5 month old wakes screaming. My rescue dog hides behind the toilet shaking. And I end up sitting on the bathroom floor at 10.30pm with both of them while my partner's on nights.

How are you getting through until Bonfire Night (and the weekend after, and Diwali, and then New Year...)? Anything that actually helps either of them?

Dog side: a den with blankets over a crate, somewhere dark and enclosed, set up before the bangs start. Close curtains, telly or radio on. Let him hide, don't drag him out. Vets can also advise if it's really bad, there are options.

White noise machine in the baby's room, a bit louder than usual during firework hours. Doesn't block all of it but takes the edge off the sharp bangs.

Honestly some of it is just riding it out. Our daughter was startled for the first few nights then slept through by the 5th. Babies are more adaptable than us. The dog never adapted though, poor thing.

Move the baby's bedtime routine to the room furthest from the street for this week, if you can. We put the travel cot in our back bedroom.

Den for the dog under the stairs with an old duvet and the radio on, made a real difference - he went in by himself last night. White noise for the baby is helping too. Still woke twice but settled faster. Saturday is going to be the big one, but I feel more ready for it.
