Going back to work at 9 months - pumping in a London office

Back at work in four weeks, still breastfeeding my daughter. She's 9 months and has two or three feeds a day plus solids.

I'm in an open-plan office in King's Cross. There's no proper room for expressing, just a meeting room with a glass wall. I'm also not sure if I want to keep feeding when I'm back or whether to start dropping feeds now.

Anyone done this? What did you ask your employer for?

Your employer has to provide somewhere suitable for you to rest, and the guidance says it should be private and not the toilets. A meeting room with a glass wall isn't private. Ask HR in writing what they're going to provide.

At 9 months you might find you don't need to pump at all at work. I just fed my son morning and evening and my supply adjusted within a week or so. Weekends I fed on demand.

Our office stuck frosted film on a meeting room window and put a "do not disturb" sign on the door. Took HR about a day once I asked. Sometimes they just don't think about it until someone asks.

ZaraBee, I hadn't even considered just doing morning and evening. That's a lot less stress. I'll still ask HR for a private room in case I need it.
