I posted a few weeks ago about painful feeding and cracked nipples, and lots of you suggested asking about tongue tie. Thought I'd come back with an update.
Two midwives and a health visitor had checked and said it was fine, his latch looked "good". But I kept pushing and finally got referred to the infant feeding team at the hospital. The specialist found a posterior tie in about thirty seconds.
He had it divided last Tuesday. It was very quick, he cried for less time than he does for a nappy change, and he fed straight afterwards.
It's not magic, we're still working on his latch, but feeding has gone from toe-curling to manageable. If your instinct is telling you something is wrong, keep asking.
