Feeling numb on the routine treadmill - anyone else?

Wake up 6am. Breakfast, uniforms, school run, work, pick up, tea, bath, bed, emails, sleep. Repeat. Five years of exactly the same.

I'm not sad exactly. I'm just... grey. Nothing feels like anything. I used to read, swim, go to gigs. I don't know who I am outside of the routine anymore. Is this just what being a parent of young kids is, or is it something more?

Grey is a word that rings alarm bells for me. Numbness for weeks on end, losing interest in things you used to love, can be depression rather than just 'parent life'. Might be worth a chat with your GP, or self-referring to NHS Talking Therapies. You can do it online in most London boroughs without going through the GP.

I had that feeling and starting one small thing for myself helped. For me it was a Thursday evening swim at the leisure centre. Didn't fix everything but it was mine.
