4:45am wake ups - is this my life now?

My username was a joke, before I had a child. Now it's a lifestyle. My 14 month old wakes at 4:45 every morning, full of beans. Goes to bed at 7. Naps twice.

We've tried blackout blinds, later bedtime, earlier bedtime, not going in until 6. Nothing. Is this just how it is?

Total blackout, and I mean bin bags on the windows if you have to. The cheap blinds let in a glow at the edges and London summer mornings are light at 4:30.

Also white noise to block the birds and the early buses.

That's 3 hours of naps at 14 months, I'd say that's quite a lot. We capped the first nap and the early waking eased off. Not overnight but over a couple of weeks.

Our eldest woke at 5 for about a year and nothing worked, then she just stopped. Sorry, I know that's not helpful. Divide and conquer: one of you does 5-7 one day, the other the next. Survival mode.

Update: capped the morning nap at 45 mins, added foil to the gaps at the window edges (glamorous). We're at 5:45 now. That extra hour feels like a spa break.
