Settle this: is leaving every light on in the house a crime?

I am becoming my father. I walk around the house turning lights off behind my family like a ghost. Bathroom light on, nobody in there. Landing light on in daytime. My 12 year old's room lit like a stadium while he's downstairs watching YouTube.

My wife says LED bulbs cost basically nothing and I'm being a dinosaur. Is she right? Does it actually matter anymore with LEDs?

Did the maths once. A typical LED bulb is something like 8 or 9 watts. Leave one on for 5 hours a day for a year and you're looking at maybe £4 to £5 at current prices. So no, it won't bankrupt you.

But ten of them is £45 and it's the principle.

Wife here (not his). The TV left on in an empty room is the real crime. The lights are a distraction from the true enemy.

Lights are the gateway. Next it'll be phone chargers left in the socket with nothing on the end. Then you'll find yourself standing in front of an open fridge shouting about letting the cold out. I know because I've done all three this week.
