Solo half term week while she's at work - dads, how do you pace it?

First time I've taken the whole half term off on my own with our two (3 and 7) while my wife works. Shift work so she's not around much in the daytime.

I've got a big list of plans. Museums, the Thames Clipper, a farm, maybe the Science Museum. My wife looked at the list and laughed in a way I didn't love.

What's the right amount of 'stuff' for one week? Dads who've done this, what would you tell yourself on day one?

One big thing a day, max. One. And alternate big days with home days. The 7 year old will be thrilled with a morning at the park and an afternoon of building something. The 3 year old will melt down anywhere after 2pm regardless.

Pack lunches. Eating out with two kids in central London for a week will cost you a small car. Sandwiches on a bench on the South Bank are a perfectly good day out and nobody remembers the cafe anyway.

Mum here but sneaking in: the thing my husband learned on his first solo week was that the house doesn't run itself while you're out having fun. Thursday night he realised nobody had done a wash since Sunday. Build in a laundry and food shop slot.

Week done. Science Museum, a farm in north London, and the Clipper. Two of those three were great; the museum was rammed and the 3 year old fell asleep in the buggy at 11am. Best day was a rainy Wednesday building a cardboard rocket in the living room. Wife was right, I was wrong, the list was twice too long. And WoodGreenWendy - yes. Thursday night. Exactly that.
