My 2 year 9 month old will eat: pasta (plain), toast, chips, crackers, fish fingers (obviously), yoghurt and bananas. That's the list. Anything green is treated as a personal insult.

He ate broccoli and peas happily until about 20 months and then just stopped. I'm cooking separate meals and I hate it. Health visitor says it's normal. Is there light at the end of the tunnel?

Super normal unfortunately! There's an actual developmental phase where they get suspicious of new or "risky" food around that age.

What worked for us: put a tiny bit of the family food on their plate next to a safe food, no pressure at all to eat it. It took about 15 exposures before she even licked a carrot. Now she eats most things.

Stop cooking separate meals. I know that sounds harsh. We serve one meal but always make sure there's one thing on the table they will eat (bread, rice, whatever). They can fill up on that. Nobody starves, nobody's a short-order cook.

Get him involved. Mine will eat stuff he "made". Tearing up spinach for a pasta sauce, washing tomatoes, sprinkling cheese. Kids are suspicious of food but they trust their own hands.

Also, lower the bar. A good week counts, not a good meal. If over a week he had some fruit, some protein and some carbs he's probably doing fine. Fish fingers are fish! Yoghurt is calcium! Bananas are fruit!
