My toddler only wants her dad and I'm a bit crushed

I know this is a phase. I KNOW. But my 2.5 year old has decided I'm surplus to requirements. She screams if I try to do bath, bedtime, or even put her shoes on. "NO MUMMY. DADDY DO IT."

I'm the one who's home with her three days a week. I did all the night feeds. And now she pushes me away. My husband feels awkward about it too. Does it pass?

Dad here, and it went the other way for us. At 2 our son only wanted mum, I couldn't even sit next to him at dinner. It passed at around 3 and now he flip-flops weekly. Don't take it personally, though I know that's easier said.

Mine did this too. I think sometimes it's because the parent who's home more is the 'safe' one, so they can push you away without worrying.

Have him step back a bit. If dad is always the one who swoops in when she says "daddy do it", it reinforces it. We had to agree my husband would say "mummy's doing bath tonight" and leave the room.

Do something fun that's only yours. My daughter and I have 'pancake Saturday'. Even in her 'daddy only' months she'd come back for pancakes.

Started 'mummy and me' Saturday mornings at the café round the corner, babyccino and a croissant. She now asks for it all week. Still daddy for bath, but I'll take it.
