Half term is looming and I've got two days off with a 3 and 5 year old and approximately no budget. Let's pool ideas. Mine:

Natural History Museum first thing in the morning before the crowds, go straight to the dinosaurs and leave by 11.

Library rhyme time, free and they're always so welcoming.

Playground hopping: pick three parks along one bus route and do them all.

Epping Forest edges, Walthamstow Wetlands, Rainham Marshes. Put them in wellies and give them a 'nature bingo' sheet you draw yourself. Hours of entertainment.

Greenwich Park, roll down the hill by the observatory, then the Maritime Museum which is free and has a play area for little ones. Bring sandwiches, the cafes are pricey.

Buses. My boy would happily sit on the top deck front seat for an hour. Free for kids, cheap for me, and we see half of London.
