Is the second baby as exciting as the first? Honest answers please

Currently 30 weeks with number two. With my daughter I had an app on my phone telling me she was the size of an avocado, I'd bought a full newborn wardrobe by 20 weeks, I cried at every scan.

This time I keep forgetting I'm pregnant until I bend down. I haven't bought a single thing. I feel horribly guilty about it, like this baby is already getting less of me.

Did anyone else feel like this and then fall head over heels once they arrived? Or is it just a different kind of love?

Completely normal. With my second I didn't even know what week I was on half the time. Then he arrived and I was absolutely smitten, possibly more relaxed and present than I'd been with my first because I wasn't terrified of everything.

Different kind of excitement. Less novelty, more knowing what's coming and that it's lovely.

I'll be the honest one. I didn't feel the rush straight away with my second. It took a few weeks. I was exhausted, my eldest was struggling with the change, and I felt more like a logistics manager than a mum for a bit.

It came though. She's four now and we have a really special bond. If it doesn't hit immediately, be kind to yourself and don't panic.

the guilt about not buying stuff made me laugh because number two literally got everything in hand-me-down beige and is the happiest of the lot
